Winter Walk

My every breath slips out over warm red lips

And turns to a ghostly cloud, fading into the night

Vivid lights dance b'tween the hanging stars

And drench me in shivers I can not fight

/I listen to the crunch of my feet on fresh snow

As this white wood leads me down and through

It dresses me with earthy smells, I stand

Ignoring the chills that splash me, fingers turnin' blue

/Taking in the trees that tower, I feel so small

My eyes can barely reach their tips, Oh so tall

Memories come raining back in rich flavored sips

And a cool gasp brushes against my parted lips

/Lost for a moment, I hear the familiar ring of bells

And ghostly laughter mixes with comforting smells

Eyes close slightly, and I see bright strung lights

Feel the warmth of embers sparking on cold nights...

/Overcome with Winter's bickering winds

Sharp trembles roll down my back, tightening skin

And I stumble towards the hidden path leading home

As peace crowds in b'tween the still falling snow
