Winter compositions

Steal from a face its summer's glow
Windchill factors on a warm heart blow
Shifts to coldness are subtle and strange
In falling degrees perspectives change.

And though the season wishes no ill
A heart hides what a heart should feel
Viewpoints harden like icicles they hang
Winter compositions are sad refrains.

The ground freezes barren and clean
Hungry hearts wander in search of green
Glowless eyes watch as snowflakes fall
To the ears soundless snowmen call.

Coldness greets; the winter has come
The canvass is bare; the painters are done.
