Winter Cometh Again

The slate grey sky is a weight to bear;
Away has gone Autumn with our wings.
the sun now a viewer rests in his lair
While the wind with cold cadences sings.

Here is winter once again!

Warm and bright does blaze the flame;
the fireplace glows brighter than a summer-time noon.
Hot  are the goodies that out of the oven just came--
But oh! It is bedtime for the day has gone too soon.

Glorious winter has come again!

Ah! The frigid North Wind has chilled my nose,
And frozen my fingers to shards of ice!
Blue with cold now do glow my toes;
But do peep outside; Feathery white down does blanket all high and low!

Joyous winter has graced again!

Swiftly does mother now pull me to her lap,
Dress me is sweaters, scarves and boots.
She brushed my hair and slips on a cap;
I kiss her and rush out to a Snowy owl's hoot!

Merry winter has visited again!
