Why?

Why? you might ask,
Have I switched from the prosaic,
Maybe it's become archaic,
Or I like to make the mosaic,
That is my doggerel,
You don't need a postdoctoral,
To comprehend,
The meanings that transcend,
A symbolic cockerel.

It's because it's concise,
Because it sounds nice,
Because it might provide some spice,
To a world trodden down by,
Ratings and rankings,
And debatings and feignings.

You all ignore anyway,
Though I write like Hemingway,
In the austral Riviera,
Je vous demande votre graciera,
The Lost Generation,
Bored by the inundation,
Of a few paragraphs,
Unwilling to read even the epigraphs.

Why?
I believe it's my prerogative,
To toy with the interrogative,
With verbosity so evocative,
Though it won't become causative.
It's about the creation,
About my contemplation,
About the occupation,
Of formulating my narration.

Each word deliberately placed,
Not one syllable a waste.
Why? you might ask,
I declare, it has become my taste.
