Why They Lie

Many lie for money. Many lie for gain.
Lying isn't funny and will often pain.

Many lie in battle. Many lie in war.
Lying isn't chattel and will often gore.

Many lie for lever. Many lie for zeal.
Lying isn't clever and will often steal.

Many lie in conceit. Many lie in pride.
Lying isn't elite and will often chide.

Many lie for power. Many lie for rule.
Lying isn't dower and will often fool.

Many lie in duress. Many lie in threat.
Lying isn't redress and will often fret.

Many lie for glory. Many lie for fame.
Lying isn't quarry and will often lame.

Many lie in terror. Many lie in fear.
Lying isn't error and will often smear.
