Whispers

Whispers In The Night

Drifting in and out, in her ear comes a whisper
The breath that she feels causes tingles within her
"I love you", he whispers, "more than you know"
The feeling is so great, overwhelming as it grows.

He holds her so tight, arms wrapped completely around
Trying to get her even closer, with breathy, longing sounds
Both would be satisfied if they just melted into the other
Where two become one, literally completing the other

She whispers "Don't let go," as she drifts off to sleep
He says "I'll be right here", as a single tear he weeps
Again trying to pull her closer, to protect her and comfort
The tear caused by emotions just too strong to sort

Softly she's snoring and slightly begins to stir
He knows it's now time, the time's come to enter
Closing his eyes, he feels the connection
As they do become one, the feeling is perfection

He enters her dream, intent to chase it away
Stands up to her enemies, threatens harm if they stay
He holds and caresses her, in his arms she feels safe
This moment is pure and can never be erased

Slowly, he slips away, traveling back the same path
Out of her dream, for he's shown them his wrath
His eyes open to see her, so peacefully, in his arms
A slight smile on her lips shows he's ended all harm

In her sleep, she feels eyes, burning upon her
A powerful feeling that causes her eyes to flutter
Looking into his eyes, her trembling body wraps around him
The emotion is so strong, in this world, it's only them

He says, "You won't have that dream, it will never again show."
"What dream?" she asked, then saying "How do you know?"
"I was there", he says, "in your dream, when you needed me."
Then he describes it precisely, can this truly be?

Amazed and astounded, can their love be so strong?
Could he enter her dreams, just to keep away all wrong?
Yet she'd felt his presence and realized she knew
She whispers, "I love you, more than you ever thought true".

The breath on her face fills her again with emotion
The gentle voice she hears is filled with love and devotion
She's never in her life felt so safe and secure
And the dream never returned for he'd been the cure

"I love you", he whispers, "more than you know."
