While Hope Weeps

Silence twirls inside a romantic dance,
flutters of heartache breach insanity,
and all I can do is move with rhythm
while tears collect flowers from the meadow
stretched on the cheek's delicate wildfire blush.

Eternity mocks imagination
as senses wrap sensations into curls
of dreams; coloured scenes of yesterday's swerve.

The future screams for love's passionate touch
then crumples up in pain's dark loneliness,
perhaps her spirit's visions kiss my lips
when sleep captures reality's chasm.

Lost in a sigh I slip the present broken
promises and curse stars for being bright;
blinding blinks of distance that laugh out loud.

One day I will find her and pop delight
as her eyes fall deep into the rivers
I rage along without caution's embrace,
but for now, I'll flick madness like pennies,
sit on the edge of reason while hope weeps.
