Wherever It Was, A Rocket Always Returns

a lot like a bat out of heaven and low
on gas but flat out, hell bent, to blow
a last best burst of flame. That done,
this prodigal son of a gun, feet first,
wings primly furled, sinks into this world.
A lot like a poet, although he don’t know it.
