When You Are Awake

Through the sepia glass I saw your eyes
In the secret alcove I left my dreams and prayers
For you to find them when you look for us;
Clematis cast a shadow over the door
Hopes you'll find inscribed in your hour of need
                                                   ~and more…

When you return from your dreams, when you wake
Wherever it is you have been my darling me you can take
For last night I dreamt I spoke to you in my sleep silently
In verse and rhyme I whispered to you of love, gently…

Whence the voice came from I do not know, like it did that first snow
Must be from the kernel, from the core, in my heart, for you to know
It silently echoed with joy of knowing you,…as if from a distant shore
In my heart's stillness I prayed for us to be together evermore….~
