When Will the Wind Blow Strong?

Flowers die
From no cool breeze.
The hot sun,
Too hot to handle,
Beats us down.
We melt into concrete cracks
As we say
"When Will the Wind Blow Strong?"
Not lemonade
Or a swimming pool
Can withstand the heat.
Not an ice-cream cone
Or horchada
Can break the dreaded heat.
We watch it all
Melt away
As we say
"When Will the Wind Blow Strong?"
