When I Must Say Goodbye

When I must say goodbye to you I'll touch and turn away:
The final kiss will break my heart
in naked disarray.
When I must say goodbye to you I'll picture memories:
the way you looked into my eyes
serving as ministries.
When I must say goodbye to you I'll sense your tender soul:
the scalding teardrops on my chest
from your empathic role.
When I must say goodbye to you I'll feel the sun as ice:
the shivering chill down my spine
lacking warmth to suffice.
When I must say goodbye to you I'll know a vacant place:
the destitute, forsaken world
deserted by your grace.
When I must say goodbye to you I'll never be the same:
the manner of your walk through life
making the savage tame.
