When do I laugh ?

Poem

      WHEN  DO  I  LAUGH ?

                                    K.R.BALAKRISHNAN

Let me tell you when do I laugh:

May be , when a man
After selling out his property
Becomes a grocery merchant
And sitting on a chair,
Casts his eyes on the passers-by
With a hook of  high expectations.

Or when a passenger
In a Government bus
Elbows and jostles
Through the crowd at the door
To get down in a hurry,
After travelling so patiently for long.

Or when a simpleton in a household
Becomes the head of the family somehow
And rules over the others
Who are wiser
And prepares a lot of  busy programmes

Or when I see some institutions
Which are of no use
To mankind or animal world ,
And when their supervisors
Pretend extremely serious
In looks and walks.

Or when a quarrelling couple
Suddenly pour laughter and talks
On seeing the unexpected guests;
And resume quarrel
As soon as they leave.

Or when I see a newly wedded girl
Travelling in a public vehicle
Leaning her head
On the shoulder of the husband
As if she had no support
Till that moment.

Or when a person changes
His mode of walk and talk
To suit his dress and shoes.

Oh! I shall now die laughing and laughing….
