Wedding Day

It was to be
the best day of my life
somehow it turned out to be the worst
I was to take you for my wife
as we stood at the altar
my bubble you would burst
the look on the faces
of family and friends
told me you were no longer mine
I could feel my eyes
well up with tears
for our love
was at the end of the line
these churchbells in my mind
have me praying all the time
that soon you will come back to me
I guess you assumed
it was not meant to be
