We Were Soldiers

Waiting by these piles of sand
Wishing them all home once more
Before these graves we stand

For the dead come near
As others start their career
Upon a childs tear

Watching in this refined plot
As they coil to fall
In this empty hearted slot
In the battle for help they call

The faint breath of mercy
To shower our sins
For this blood stained coin
Is now much worthy
Rememberance of our kins
Never to rejoin

For the birds they sing
Before a shinning cross
Spreading a thousand bee stings
To lay in this moss
