We

My pulse raced within me,
 as I your number dialed.
Then that familiar voice in greeting,
I could not contain the sudden smile.

Eager conversation, freely offered,
remembering joys once felt and shared;
the blessing –so soon to recover,
just how deeply you still cared;

You dared make known that heart-felt love
so long entrusted just to me
And now with joy once more to tell
from the depths of my eternal being

I have always loved you, darling,
and I thank you, once again, for “We”.

The “We” who dreamed of love so bright
held fast in love’s deep need.
The “We” who spoke of one shared life
A love for all the world to see;

A love past time and space and loss;
Two soul now one, my plea – one soul forever “We”.
