water

they think, they think
they think her a flower
yet how do they know, how do they know
how do they know her
do they know her like i do
do you think that they'd want to
slick in the water
her skin so far away from me
i watch, i watch
i watch her in the water
such a dark and lovely daughter
under night, under sky
under scattered light
she knows that i am here
scents of lilied pearl
float past my tongue
the sweet just out of reach
if you let the water take her
i won't tell, sshhh i won't tell, husshh i won't tell
promise
