Vows

If solemn vows were taken fewer would be made.
If integrity is shaken
it's easy to degrade.
If adept vows were certain fewer would be moot.
If stupidity is curtain
it's easy to uproot.
If honest vows were spoken fewer would be said.
If fidelity is broken
it's easy to unthread.
If useful vows were chosen fewer would be barred.
If utility is frozen
it's easy to discard.
If sincere vows were given fewer would be lost.
If duplicity is driven
it's easy to accost.
If chary vows were written fewer would be nil.
If reality is smitten
it's easy to dispel.
