Victorian

Nervous sprinting through August
Creaking window, sticking paint
Hot rustles, deep summer night
Petticoats, scuffed boots, dry twigs.
Groaning boards, tiptoe in black
White washed walls, old new plaster
Faint smells of dinners past
Lovers on the couch in the parlor,
Secreting away memories.
