Under Water

As I leaned in towards the cool ripples
on the surface of the water a choke
curled pain inside my throat's swirled seduction,
I nearly became addicted to an
intense pleasurable discomfort but
it was over as quickly as it rose.
Parallel disenchanted dimensions
swept the bleach of emotions through a fine
lingerie notion which whipped at my eyes.
Reckless, I was disillusioned, stung by
my breath's escape and a hard savage cry
battled with internal freedom while death
laughed like a maniac, which of course is
the truth of the matter or at least how
I view it to be, here in my madness.

Winter spilled ink in veins of confusion
as these cracked lips begged for alcohol's rush,
and shadows smiled as sobriety's rich
chemicals forced me onto the back of
a natural high's disoriented
flutter of intensity, all the while
faces had been staring at expressions
that ran across this melted mannequin.
It was just the other sections of me,
reflected in the basin where dawn wept.
