Two Trees

Like two trees planted side by side
we have grown, and will so continue;
until all our branches so entwined
become one; our goal the same.

Will that we grow old in this way
and look back upon the twists and gnarls
that mar our branches with pride.
For each will show our journey
through life's turbulent sea.

And two lives so thus entwined should
never part from this world alone.
To the next we shall journey--
one heart; one soul; two minds.
