Treasure(d) Island

Long John Silver, Black Dog, Israel Hands and Blind Pew
a motely bunch were old Flint's crew.
Steeped in wickedness these pirates bold
sailed the Spanish Main of old.
Silver by far the cleverest of the lot
but like Billy Bones he got the Black Spot.
Pew was nothing but purely evil
malice ate his heart like a hungry weevil.
Israel Hands was Flint's old gunner
pistols shot in his face was a stunner.
Black Dog simply ran away
lived to hang another day.

Trelawney, Smollet, Hawkins and Livesey
all sailed in The Hispaniola willingly.
The hunt for treasure left all excited
but by pirates the voyage was sorely blighted.
Mr. Trelawney a local squire
at first his crew he did admire.
Captain Smollet was far more cautious
seeing the men to be really rather raucous.
Dr. Livesey was more circumspect
but knew Silver to be mutiny's architect
Young Jim Hawkins uncovered the plot
and ‘twas by him that Israel Hands was shot.

Poor Ben Gun driven half mad
still an old pirate but not so bad.
On the island he'd been marooned
into Flint's old crew he'd been dragooned.
But Gun it was who aided the rest
thanks to him it came out best.
Old Ben Gun merely craved cheese
coins and gold did not him please.
He'd lived for years amongst the loot
on a diet of goats and ripened fruit.
Take me home was his plea
but not to hang on Tyburn's Tree.
