Today I Will Overcome

Alexander Reece DE Leon 1970 (Saginaw)

Judge me not for the mistakes I''ve made,
judge me not for the person I''ve become...
Like a rope twisted up into countless knots, I can no longer be undone...
I hang there motionless swinging back
And forth waiting for something to stop the pain...
The sky opens up to shine some light on what only becomes the same..
Over and over like a film stuck on the same haunting
picture on the movie screen...
Everything goes into the mind in circles so fast,
I no longer hear the screams...
The echo in my ears is silent now,
The speed of sound is mute in the air...
The blind man feels what he cannot see,
except today there is no one there...
The paintings on the wall shift into pictures
And start melting away the ink...
An outline showing the draft in the making where the architect begins to
think...
Now there is only a canvass where the
thoughts are caught on a blank page...
I write my fury on a piece of paper,
where only the mind can feel my rage...
Judge me not for the mistakes I''ve made,
judge me not for the person I''ve become...
