Today I Cry

I had a friend named Ty.
He said he was bi.
We met on the streets.
He was really sweet.
We'd go for drinks.
Sometimes, he'd say life stinks!
He thought being gay meant he'd be hated,
So, it was both women and men he dated.
Although it may sound sappy
Ty was not very happy.
Accepting he was really gay
Was too high a price to pay.
The religious right
Wound his young mind tight.
One dreary night
He gave up the fight.
He endured such inner pain.
I hope his death was not in vain.
I think about my friend Ty
And today I cry.
