Toadstools

Among pine needles in the grass,
I saw a toadstool as I pass,
Red with spots beside a pole,
Stopping to look I found it whole.
Elves and fairies goblins and such,
Myths and fables adults don't touch,
Leaves and netting traces of mould,
Strong and colourful to withstand cold,
Wind and rain helped the spore,
Search I did but didn't find more.
Mysterious stories for young of heart,
How these toadstools form a part,
Over the years wide eyed and bright,
They are amazed at their sight,
Children listen and sit with glee,
Hearing many tales and visually see,
Circles and rabbits animals and things,
About these toadstools formed in rings.

I find it is a good way to record events of the day and bring history to life. The mental aspect is a balance against keeping fit, work and life in general. more…
