To The One

I sit in the night and cry,
Falling to my knees I sigh.
You left me here in this place,
Now I feel as if it is my time to die.
We met on that special night,
You were such a beautiful sight.
Then we met at the alter,
We were filled with such delight.
The days came we shared our life,
Together we were husband and wife.
A smile for every day we kissed,
Every day we were without any strife.
Then came the day you had to go,
I tried my hardest to keep you, you know.
Now I am alone with nothing to show.
The Doctor said it was just too late,
I will never forget that date,
So why was it your time to die?
Heaven has opened the pearly gates.
So what now have I to live for?
I hide my pain behind a closed door,
For you were my love and my life,
There is nothing for me, nothing more.
To the one that I love I pray,
Wait for me until that day.
When we will meet once again,
Never to part, eternity to gain,
My vows were forevermore,
At thee alter of love I swore!
