To Share My Tin Boat

Shallow waters by the bank
is where I sail my boat,
Once we lay here side by side
still it stays afloat.

Once we lay here side by side
that warm and sunny day,
Can we just stay here forever
was all I heard you say.

I came down to meet you once
the river was so high,
Marks are there where you slid in
we never said goodbye.

Still I stare into that river
looking for some sign,
Always hoping that some day
I'll see what once was mine.
