Time

Time
People say that is all it takes
Time and time again
All I hear
Time heals all wounds

Time heals those wounds
But only the shallow cuts
The bruises so small
But can it heal those deep
The ones carved into the heart

The ones that have scarred over
Leaving a white line that showed
A heart broken a time to many
Time heals only visible wounds
Those that are the easiest to see

Time cannot cure the hurt
Time cannot stop the despair
Time cannot mend the part that is broke
Time cannot save the half which beats
Time can only break the wound open

Leaving it to freely bleed
Maybe this time it won't scab
But just keep gushing
Slowly releasing that which
Is truly precious the essence of life

Can time handle a quest so large
Or will it falter like those who made
The scars on the heart
And like those who made them deeper
Only time will tell
