Through The Eyes of a Child (Poem #357)

Do you remember when you
       were just a child,
How you looked forward to Christmas
      and that it took such a long while?

And do you remember when you came
       into the room,
The Christmas tree that greeted you and packages
      you couldn't open too soon?

Let's all remember this Christmas with
      the glow of a child's face
And share the joy with others
      without a moments haste.

I wrote a poem for my daughter and new son-in-law and read it at their wedding reception in 1997. People have been encouraging me ever since. I try to write up-beat and happy poetry. My poetry has been in many anthologies, newspapers, church bulletins,etc. I won a small contest once.
