Three sonnets Rasul Gamzatov

Three sonnets
 1

In Japan I read my verses
In the native language - in a huge hall.
- About what are verses? - Have asked. - about the love.
- Once again read, - to me have told.

Read my Avarian verses
In America. - about what are its? - Have asked.
And I have answered true:-About the love.
- Once again read, - have asked.

The nobility is, on any language to understand
The verses about our happiness and melancholy,
And about your smile at a dawn.

And me the true one has opened:
By an enamoured the earth is occupied,
And it seemed to us, we are one on the earth.

 2

- Tell "I love", - me asked in Rome,
In the language of your people! -
And I do named your simple name,
And all around have repeated it.

- How name that, who is loved more all?
How is in an avarsky "life" and "deity"? -
And I do named your simple name,
And all around have repeated it.

Have told me:-Can not be such,
That there was in the language only one word.
Either the language so is unusual yours?

And I am, any more in the forces to argue with them,
Has answered that one simple name
To me replaces native all language .

 3

No, you are not a dream, not a drowsiness,
Not a wonderful fairy tale foggy light
The eternal mine suffer,
Not a healing wound.

I will be deaf and blind to a deceit,
But only let your face
To me lights up constantly
A road, a days,a life-be.

That with you nearby to be,
I am ready to forget all songs ,
Back to turn the terrestrial rivers -

But I understand, grieving,
That on the earth has found you,
There and then to lose forever.

 1
