Three Cheers To Life

"Three cheers to life,"
she said tipping back
the drink she knew
wasn't allowed here,
in our home.
Strange tattoos
and turning 18
all swirled together
with drugs and bad booze.
There is pain in her
faded blue eyes.
The boy
she has brought with her,
looks even worse.
His eyes look dead,
like part of his soul has gone missing.
I see him whispering
his evil promises
into her pretty ears.
He tells her she is beautiful
and kisses her lips.
She laughs and pushes
her stringy brown hair
out of her eyes.
I wonder what he would think
if he saw her graduation picture
taken a year ago.
Now that girl was beautiful!
This girl is a bad imitation.
dressed up for a performance.
A performance of rage against me
and a father who died,
way too soon.
I know she blames me,
For her dad's suicide.
It is easier,then blaming him.
Black mascara and ruby-red lipstick
can`t disguise the fact,
she is losing herself to the pain
her father has left behind.

(This one is also completely imagination, done for writing class, the prompt was Three Cheers To Life)
