Thirst

You sink into the darkest crevices
Of my consciousness.
No questions, no words-
You enter my terrain and understand.
You sink into me
Uninvited, yet
Somehow quenching all of the many thirsts
Of my deserts.
As I drink you in
On a warm day, I feel opened unlike
Ever before, but
When the temperature
Falls, you freeze into me, leaving behind
Harsh scars on dead fields-
But I keep you in
Me, until you evaporate, leaving
My deserts more parched
And broken, than they
Were when you first came to cure me of thirst.
