The Wait

To this day, I could never stand the wait;
the unknowing, the excitement, the anxiousness.

To this day, I have no patience for such a thing;
entering in some contest, blind to the outcome.

To this day, there is but one thing that will keep me going;
the prospect of winning, of knowing I'm best.

To this day, I propose a toast;
for today, is the day I have won.
And on this day, I know why so many can wait.
