The Void

Andy Lyle 1951 (Londonderry)

Surrounded by people I sit here alone

Head full of empty like a nuclear zone

I watch and see nothing that I can recall

How further down can my weary self fall

I sit here in tatters trying to cope

Try to read but there's so little hope

As soon as I've read it, the last word it left

My brain is in turmoil ,of thought it's bereft

If only for one day I could normal be

Walking and laughing with some company

Then maybe from somewhere I could find

The passport to the good life that I left behind
