The Vivid Color in the Night

Behind a wall of secrets,
beyond an obstacle of sin,
is everything we do not want
anyone to see,
all those grim, dark things
that cannot bear the light.
Only in our dreams
are we allowed to breech
that carefully erected stature,
treading lightly in our nightmares,
chained to the blackness of ourselves,
our own creation.
Though we all know
those things are still there,
no one wants to see them in the day;
they are solely confined to the night,
waiting to flood past our barrier,
waiting to color the world gray.
And yet, we shun the unknown,
the reality behind the barricade,
and ban them from society
though they already slinks in shadows,
thinking that those creatures possess no color,
when we ourselves are blind.
