The Storm

I stood beneath the darkening clouds
To watch the raindrops fall
Then moved amidst the chestnut trees
As thunder made its call.
The wind began to howl at me
And loudly call my name.
I pressed more closely to the tree
With reddened cheeks of shame.
The thunder cracked and roared at me
Then laughed a merry laugh;
The sky lit up and winked its eye
And tore the clouds in half.
I stood below the chestnut tree
Protected by its limbs;
While the storm boomed & lightning blazed
Their most discordant hymns.

Another year is coming to a close; a new year is on the horizon with endless possibilities. We need to draw our muses into the openness of our imaginations. organize their gifts into readable verses, and share them to our readers. What wonderful opportunities open our pathways; what pleasurable words guide our ways. May we not grow weary when the words do not flow easily. Keep to the task and rejoice in our output . Writing is not easy, but success will come as we hone our craft. more…
