The Spirit Is Lost

When were you lost?
While you were out at sea?
Was it in a dark place?
Like a forest filled with weeds?

Did you lose track of time
Because you lost your watch?
Or was it broken into pieces
And then time just stopped

The wind took the pieces
Then it blew them all away.
They lay on the ground sparkling
With the light of the day.

When the day is the dawn
And the dawn turns to night
Then the dusk grabs the candle
And blows out all the light.

Did we lose the sun then?
No, its still up in the sky.
And we left it hanging there
Without even saying goodbye.

Were you sneaking through the desert
Then blown up by a mine?
Did I lose you right then
Just like I lost my mind?

How were you found?
When you took the angel's hand?
When the plane found the runway,
Lowered its gear, and started to land?

Did the angel take life's tunnel
And found you in its maze?
Then it took you by your hand and led you
Through the deep fog and purple haze?

Did it open up your eyes
When you were caught in a gaze?
Did it clear your mind
When it found you in a daze?

The angel helped you up life coaster,
through a loop, and back down
Then it held you so tightly
While you spun around and around

The angel kept all of your secrets
And it protected you like a shield
And when you were moving way too fast
It told you, "Peace, be still"

You wouldn't give this up
No, not at any cost?
Is that the moment when
You found yourself lost?

Je' Nobia Smith

Age: 18 Sex: Female Date of Birth: October 1991 Occupation: Student Education Completed: Junior year High School Location: Indiana, United StatesI wouldn't exactly say I am a poet, but i find myself writing poem after poem in various books, sheets of paper, or what have you all of the time. Its almost annoying. I do love reading the poety of others and critically analyzing it. It is interesting to see the ways others can weave their words. I currently reside in Indiana and am a high school senior. I plan to go to college in Baltimore, MD. I speak spanish semi- fluently and love the Latino Community. I want to double major in Global Studies/Culture and spanish. Then I wish to take my Global Studies/Culture degree on to a doctorate so that I may teach world history at the secondary school level. I am utterly fascinated by history and the ways people think and progress. I tutor students in various subjects and teach Algebra I to several students during the 5th and 6th hour of my school day. I live with my parents and two younger siblings. My older brother has his own house, car, degree in spanish, and a job. He keeps me connected with the spanish- speaking world. I would still consider myself a child and I love videogames, playing/watching football, and going shopping (thank you paypal :D). - 12/09/09 more…
