The Secrets We Keep

The Secrets We Keep

Words unsaid, thoughts we keep in our head,
whispers beneath our breath full of dread.
These secrets we keep to ourselves,
stashed away in deep inside stacked on shelves.

And like the multitude of cancerous cells,
they eat at our soul until we are only shells.
Dare we speak to let them out,
for in doing so others would shout.

A friend in need, gains little from those short on speed,
but let a secret be told, oh! it travels indeed.
Like wild fire with a strong wind to guide it,
it's everywhere leaving nothing untouched or fit.

Then a new form of eating away begins.
the harm of truth, as the hurt wins.
The secrets we keep, should be buried deep,
so that even we forget, and harness no regret.
