The Rhythm of the Night

They danced to the tune
Of the needle and the spoon
They turned the volume up
And put drink in their cup
They laughed and they danced
Dillusional and tranced
As they moved to the rhythm of the night

In the distance sang a breeze
All over through the trees
But nothing could be heard
Not a single spoken word
They could not even tell
Just how low they fell
As they moved to the rhythm of the night

The song started to skip
As they started to trip
They started to expire
As they went through the wire
They gave it all away
For one last dance today
As they fell to the rhythm of the night
