The Reason

The night was arriving, light fades
Flavors sweet in mind, favored moments
And his thought threw off the chains
Bindings of the busy day's rush releasing
Attention freed from its labor, rest.

Peace at last, shadow flickers, spinning
Rising in the corner of vision, forming
And the wraith slowly appears, Reaper
Cold, a sensation of body and mind, grips
As heart skip beats marking time, wonder.

“You're here early, before my time appointed”
Silence answers disbelief, questions flood forth
“Wait there is more to do.” Reasons stumble
Patient gloom descends, covering reality's sight
“Why?” the final question of all life ask.

“I am here to help you pass from this realm.”
“But I need to say goodbye,” tears forming
“Time for “Goodbyes” has passed, no more
“But What will they think?” leaving, no reason
The reason was the gun in your hand.
