The Raven and the Moon

Raven, raven, dark as though the night,
When shall I soar with your nocturnal flight?

At twilight you awaken, romantic and serene,
To charm your way across the heavens, dancing
With the Moon, your silver dancing queen.
Under your wings embrace so many lovers,
Glancing at me with curious delight,
But how am I to join their secret ranks,
When no consort is with me on my flight?

Raven, raven, darker than the night,
Descend upon me with your nocturnal flight.

She gazes at me from her heavenly retreat.
Faces form her silver-crescent shape
Laughing at yet another fool's defeat.
The raven soars along her perfect edge.
But why am I behind love's iron bars?
I know, I shot my heart at his Moon,
Ignoring a sky of gleaming stars.

Raven, raven, darkest of the night,

Forever shall I dream of your nocturnal flight!
