The Poor Me Syndrome

Modern life's such a drama the perfect Payton Place

Mankind are the actors the insignificant has pride of place

Individuals lose themselves in role play the trivial and absurd

They whine away the hours just as long as they are heard

Look at these soap opera wanner bee's and their self imagined stress

Although it might seem callous I think some should confess

They wallow in self pity because they're shallow and self obsessed

It's the 'Poor Me Syndrome' a selfishness that should be addressed

If only we looked at others who have true misery and despair

We may realise our self created soap opera's don't begin to compare

If this were suddenly to happen and 'Poor Me' became 'Poor They'

Then maybe society's selfishness and greed might simply fade away.
