The Midnight Storm

I awoke one night during a storm
The thunder rolling around so loud,
A flash of lightning lights up the sky
And above comes the darkened cloud.
This night comes with a difference
A difference that I may never see,
For in this night my heart beats hard
And her vivid vision appears to me.
Lightning bolts fall to the ground like spears
Jagged in shape, long in length and oh so bright,
Like boomsticks filling up this northern sky
My only hope is to survive this terrifying night.
To breathe in the brisk, cool morning air I await
As to be able to see her face light up in the sun,
For without this wishful thought to look forward to
Then my life I willingly sacrifice for my pretty one.
