The Last Poem

This is my last poem of the year
It may be the last I post on here
As I say goodbye I wipe a tear
My departure comes so very near.

My friends you are all very dear
But too many here prefer to sneer
Honest poems they try to smear
At decent poets they only jeer.

I face the future without any fear
Although the way ahead is not clear
I pray you all to be of good cheer
And help yourselves to another beer.

Happy New Year!
