The Itching Sky

I cannot really understand
The reasons for such deeds;
Suffice to say that on that day
An evil plan prevailed,
Till human hearts were melted down
In kerosene and steel.

This tragic space still sickens me;
The sky seems lonely here,
As if it reaches for a tower
To scrape its itching skin;
And so I long for future days,
When hopes and girders rise.

The human heart is maddening,
So twisted in its thoughts,
Too zealous in vain delusions,
Too foolish to feel shame:
But we must work for justice,
And heal such tortured minds.
