The Harbinger's Echo

Whispers and glimpses, a nervous tap,
arise from a dull day in void
Leaving the man by the windowsill
jittery, wary, (fey,) paranoid

He spots the group on their pressing way
toward the complex where he resides
For all he can think in this heart-thumping trice
Is to shout to the others inside

Then what's enough is the resonance
As intruders shall find their way
Where it meets them off of the alley walls
of which should've been strayed

It cautions like the trail of blood
to a hunter treading tracks
Regretting last words spoken, he is,
when there's no means to turn back

The harbinger's echo holds a bitter cost
there is time to learn but once
To some, the act rings martyrdom
But to him he's a damned bloody dunce
