The Fury of Inspiration

All men have burnt and tasted fire,
Have felt of hot creation's pain.
Each one has once seen sparks inspire,
A torrent roar with golden mane.

Thunder! Thunder, flowing black,
From inky clouds whence it is born,
To white fields carries on its back
The thunderbolts, which snort with scorn,
And smolder on the open plain--
That char the hills,
Make black the dikes,
And light the sea, for night to see
When, wild, the fiery thoughtlings strike.

A pen upon a paper lights--
The world within a soul ignites.
