The Frostwyrm's Perch

High above the realm of man,
The wyrm’s great wings fold in,
Its obsidian scales dull,
Lacking the necessary light to shine,
As it settles into its perch,
Barely fitting due to its immense girth,
Its visage demands respect,
With a countenance of authority,
As it curls its razor sharp claws,
Over spires of jagged ice,
Protruding crystals that spell doom,
As its breath, like a spinneret,
Crafts a web of frost and gloom,
While it observantly watches,
Envisioning the domination over the world
And its hapless inhabitants…
But now the snow begins to fall,
And the beast begins to sleep,
Contemplative in philosophical thought,
Until the coming of the thaw.
