The Flame

She can see the flames in his eyes
And hear the echos of unheard cries

Playing with fire, she has been burned
Because he is the fire, he has learned

He whispers sweet promises, he says he is true
She cannot believe him until he follows through

Drawn to the flame, unable to resist
For too long its been since either's been kissed

Drawn to the flame, the heat and the light
Drawn to him makes her life seem right

Follow him, she one day might do
To follow and love him, to him, she'll be true

For he is gone to a far away place
All he wants is to see a loving face

In her, he can see the warmth and the love
She's his guardian angel sent down from above

She is his link to the mainland, his link to home
He always thinks about her when laying cold and alone

Alone in a strange land's darkness, alone in his bed
For his country he's serving, for his country he's bled

Patiently waiting, for him she will be
Until he is home, until he is free.
