The Firebirds Last Flight

The firebird screams love's name,
frantic, seeking comfort for broken wing,
majestic bird will no longer take flight,
no more will perfect voice ring,
howling in pain,
senses driven wild,
mind not sane,
down and down the abyss,
spiraling toward lonely doom,
wing crumpled at the side,
soul fading in the gloom.
