The Field

We snuck out of the house
Not wanting to get caught
'Cause if our parents stopped us
It would all be for naught.

We headed for the field
Where we could be together
Holding hands and laughing
Not caring 'bout the weather.

Deep inside the tall grass
We found the perfect place
He turned around to see me
And saw the grin upon my face.

We flopped down on the grass
And stared up at the sky
So excited to be alone at last
Not knowing quite sure why.

See we were only six years old
And knew we weren't the same
But the rest of all that boy/girl stuff
To us was pretty lame.
